I was just at a launch party last week for my good friend Tracey who is the President of a new company called Microplace ( http://www.microplace.com ) . It is a great company, actually acquired by eBay (go Tracey), which allows you to invest in micro loans to third world countries where a $50 loan could mean the start of a flourishing new business in chicken farming or some other venture which means prosperity and the end of poverty for so many.

You also get a small return on your investment while you are at it so it makes it a fairly easy way to invest your money wisely and sustainably. We don’t usually use this blog to promote services but I think that Microplace and what they are trying to accomplish is so amazing that I had to spread the word.
